♥ Altered Tequila Bottle ♥ {Crafty Secrets Style!}

It is also a new Crafty Secrets DT Challenge! This month is really anything that we wanted to do, so I thought it would be fun to alter a Tequila Bottle! If you really take a look, so many alcohols come in some really pretty bottles! I just loved the look of this particular bottle. It reminds me of a vintage apothecary or medicine bottle. It is a pretty decent size too. It would be perfect to fill with some water and some pretty flowers or just leave as is! Let's get started!

Here is the bottle I used:

First, remove the labels. This can be a little time consuming but totally worth it in the end. I just used a lot of warm water and a little metal scraper. It took awhile to remove the glue, but it will come off with a little elbow grease!

Then I mixed some water and some white acrylic paint in a cup and brushed a light coating onto the bottle.

When dry, I sanded it in spots with a sanding tool. A light sandpaper or paper bag would work too.

Then I sealed it with some Mod Podge. I just used 1 coat.

I then printed out a photo of my kids in Sepia and some images, sentiments and quotes from the Crafty Secrets Photo Studio Digital Stamp Set. (Love this fun set!)  I distressed the photo with a distressing tool and some brown ink on the edges. Cut out images and quotes and distress the edges on them as well.(I printed the quote right onto the photo using a simple photo editing program.)

Then decorate your bottle as desired! I also added some Prima flowers and clock, some pearls and some seam binding. I ♥ that vintage camera!!

It looks really pretty on a table in my foyer!

  4. Love the altered bottle, Melissa! What a great gift idea as well. A tip for those of us who avoid "elbow grease" to remove labels.... Goo-Gone and De-Solv-it are great products for removing sticky labels.
