Well, today is the day that I thought would take forever to get here! My 40th Birthday! How am I 40 already? Wasn't I just playing with my Barbie dolls a few hours ago?? How did this happen? Well, I guess there is nothing I can do about it unless one of you want to give me a time machine or youth serum for my Birthday?? No, ok, well I guess that just leaves me to give something to you then!!

ReplyDeleteMy favourite birthday gift is children who weren't sick last year. Every year my kids have been so sick and my birthday is usually celebrated with sick kids. This last year I had healthy kids and we went out for supper and had a nice time.
My fave gift was at my 40th birthday- my fam gave me a party! I got to see all my friends and relatives! I don't get out of the house much due to illness, so it was a gift when they all came to me. :)

my best birthday ever was 2 years ago, not because of the gift, but that was the last time that my hubby was home with me, last year he was in the hospital and never come home until he has his lung transplant, and i don't believe he will be home on our 12,5 years of married and a week later i'll be 40
so he has to miss all the fun

ReplyDeleteMy favorite Birthday gift...hmmm I have never really received too many, but the ones that stand out were my 25th b-day the hubs bought me a $700 sewing machine with table etc. from sears...(sadly now it is in non -working condition)
then 2 years ago...my 3 kids and the hubs all chipped in and bought me all the remaining colors(small) and a case to carry them in...TWINKLING H2Os (before she cut them back to only 70 colors) so I have all 168 (I had 18)colors!
You are so thoughtful and generous, this is awesome candy. Some one on disability like me, could never think of giving anything this BIG away...although for my first blogoversary I combined it, with followers and hits...so I have a 1-1-5 candy, and gave away 115 items...100 to the big winner and 5 items each to 3 others. It might have added up to about the Michael's card,you are offering LOL.
my 2nd blogoversary is coming up, so watch my blog next week. I have lots of sponsors donating stuff, and I of course are giving away stuff...again I will have more than 1 winner, but no more than 3.

Hmmm...that's a tough one but, this past year, I got to go to Japan for almost a month just before my birthday...I guess that'd be my best "birthday present" I've ever had as an adult...As a kid, I was OBSESSED with babies and I got this baby doll I REALLY wanted that moved and was quite life-like...kind creepy now that I think of it, LOL...

Happy 40th - My favorite birthday was my 50th - in 2010, my best buddies got me an antique dresser that the top drawer folds down as a secretary desk. I loved it when I saw it, went back to get it, they snuck in, bought it and hid it from me and delivered on my 50th..what a surprise!

Happy Birthday Melissa! I'm 30 yrs older than you but remember my favorite B-Day was when my son and daughter-in-law (in the Air Force at the time)were stationed on the island of Crete! Our first grandchild was just born and they wouldn't send any photos of her to us! They wanted us to visit them! So, I spent my 41st birthday swiming in the Mediteranian! What a birthday! I'll never forget it. I took lots and lots of pictures, too. You know they say live begins at 40! So true! I don't have a blog but I'll tell all my card making friends.

My favorite birthday gift was when my daughter was a baby and we were trying to adopt her both parents signed their rights over on my birthday. The mother wasn't going to and had said she wanted her back so if she didn't sign we would of had to fight her in court proving her unfit and we didn't want to do that. What a great day that was.

I have a hard time deciding which present was my favorite over the years, but I'd have to say my first 2 wheel bike. Dad took me to the hardware store and we got to go upstairs where I roamed aisles of bikes and finally made my choice. I had my bike until 6 yrs ago and it had to be left behind in a move as we couldn't fit it in the vehicles. I'll always remember that bike. I don't have a blog so will be sharing through e-mails to all my crafty/scrappy friends. Thanks for a chance to win such an awesome price.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in 4th grade, I got my own roller skates for my Jan. 10th birthday. I went to the roller rink every weekend, and I'd always had to rent skates. I was thrilled when I got my own skates and a case to carry them in! Ahhhh ... the things that make us happy when we're young!

I turned 50 last February, and I still feel like a Spring Chicken (well, most days anyway! ;-) Since I've had 50 birthdays, I've received lots of wonderful presents over the years.. the first one I remember was a Panda Teddybear-- LOVED IT SO MUCH! Another one that sticks in my memory was when I was about 12. I had just set up a new aquarium in my bedroom, but hadn't gotten the fish yet.. a good friend surprised me by stocking my tank with all sorts of beautiful fish-- even a shark! :-) I thought that was pretty cool! :-)

As far as a favorite birthday gift of mine, the one that most comes to mind is this incredible shelf I spotted at a craft festival in Atlanta that a lady handcarved fish out of wood and there is a thin layer of glass on top. My hubby bought it for me since I fell in love with it. It still is so special and hangs in our dining room with gorgeous coral and shells on top. I hope your 40th is way better than mine. I was trapped in a car for hours fleeing Florida and hurricane Fran.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday gift - would have been - the gift of time my Mother gave. She would have the most fun and beautiful birthday parties for my two sisters and me. She always made a homemade cake and decorated it for us. Yummy punch and other party foods. My girlfriends (even now) tell me what fun our parties were.
My Mom is a very loving and giving Mother - and always has been. Even to this day - she gathers our family together to celebrate our Birthdays in a very special way :-)

In my religion we don't celebrate birthdays but the best gift I ever got was my babies. I didn't think I would be able to have children because of a serious illness and the drugs I had to take and now I have three! The third is only a month old! Definitely the best gifts ever!

A gift that I received for my birthday (over 4 decades ago) was a Cinderella watch. It had a pale blue leather strap and had Cinderella written across the face. The hands even had little blue insets. This was about a dozen years or so after the WD movie came out and was my favourite story. I didn't see the movie until years later(no body had dvds or blue ray back then) lol
I still have the watch and although it doesn't work anymore, it's still so special to me. I can remember my Mother taking me to a real jewelery store to pick it out.

Seems like everyone ignored that one which made it worse. When me and hubby had a "discussion" about that he said he was afraid it would make me sad but what made me sad was that everyone ignored it.

ReplyDeleteMy favourite birthday present ever was tickets to see the tickets John Barrowman in concert a friend got me last year, it was the gift that kept on giving as the tickets were bought for me in April around my birthday, but the concert wasn't until November so I had months to get over excited :)
