Well, today is the day that I thought would take forever to get here! My 40th Birthday! How am I 40 already? Wasn't I just playing with my Barbie dolls a few hours ago?? How did this happen? Well, I guess there is nothing I can do about it unless one of you want to give me a time machine or youth serum for my Birthday?? No, ok, well I guess that just leaves me to give something to you then!!

Happy Birthday Melissa! I guess I would have to say my favorite birthda gift was my grandparents giving me this beautiful sunflower chime clock. My favorite flower is sunflowers, that's why they gave me a sunflower clock. I have passed it down now to my oldest daughter. Thanks Brenda

It's interesting how simple questions sometimes put you in a puzzled mode... I tried to recall my birthdays and the gifts I received throughout the years, and the only distinct present that I could recall was an empty photoalbum from my grandma for my 14th birthday. Oh, it was an absolutely fantastic gift - that was about the time I started to collect my own photographs and wanted to create a story of my family in pictures, and I still remember the thrill of having something so elegant, so promising, and, well, so prompt :-)... I was deeply touched by the fact that my grandma truly knew what my interests were at the time... The album was one of those with sturdy pages, tissue papers in between to preserve pictures, and golden embossed word "album" on it. I'd been adding pictures to that album for almost 10 years, then changed the country, then another one, and now I'm scrapbooking :-) But I still have my dear album with me not really for the purposes of documenting our family life any more, but rather as a precious memory of my beloved grandma...

Happy Birthday. Hard to say about the gift--probably a pair of diamond earrings. I am a follower and I have sent this via email to some scrapping friends.
I am lactose intolerent...so one birthday my husband bought me a goat in kid...I eventually had a smallherd of 5...and I loved them...I milked them twice a day and made my own cheese and yogurt....sweet memories.!!!

You know, turning 40 was a bit traumatic for me . . . UNTIL . . . I read a book by Gail Sheehy (sorry, don't remember the name), where she said today's 40 is the new 30. Well, that was back in 1996, so it's sort of cliche now, but you know what, IT WAS SO TRUE! After I read that I felt like I had another whole decade before things went downhill, and that really is how it turned out. Unfortunately, I keep trying to tell myself 56 is the new 46, and it ain't workin'. lol My favorite birthday was my 10th. I grew up in a very abusive home, but for some reason that I still don't understand to this day, tenth birthdays were very special to my father, and he treated me with great kindness and made it magical. The next day things went back to normal, but I did have some wonderful for that one day. I know that's sort of a downer, but it would be hard to explain why without the background. I know what you mean, it flies by doesn't it? I turned forty a year and a half ago and giggled every time I thought about being forty. It was kinda weird but now I am going to be forty-two this year! Yikes, time is flying but I'm enjoying the journey.
My favorite gift was a card my son gave to me and expressed his heart and love for me that sometimes are hard to express through words.

My twin sister and I received this as a gift from our Mother...for Christmas the previous year we received our last Christmas present from our father that was killed in an auto accident that he was having made for us. My favorite birthday gift is one that 10 years later I still use/wear all the time. :) My parents bought my the most beautiful birthstone ring...I had wanted a birthstone ring for as long as I can remember...I saw this one in an ad, showed it to them(as I frequently did) and they bought it for me. My favorite present was a vulcanizer that my husband got me, his thoughts were in the perfect place, now if I can only find out how to use and get supplies for the antiquited (sp) machine. Even though its set idle for several years, just his thought of how I'd like it makes it my favorite.
